Process to check live train status

Step 1: Enter the train number or the name of the train.in the search box and click on “check live status”.
Step 2: A new web page will be opened. Select the boarding station.
Step 3: Select the boarding date from the dates mentioned and click on “check live status”.
Step 4: You can now spot your train status.
Once you get the live train status information for the entered start date, you can also change this date for finding the status of any other running train.

About Live Training Status

Live Training Status is a means to track the train running status of GPS enabled trains of Indian Railways. Train running status is more or less accurate & gives a real-time status of the train with usually delay upto a maximum of 5 minutes. Live train status can be checked for all Indian trains that run under the Indian Railways Reservation system.

Live Training Status enables to check the current location of the train, its estimated arrival and departure at any station en-route. Through this, you may also check the real-time delay of the train. The two keywords that you may come across while checking Live Training Status are “ Last Reported Location” & “ Estimated Time of Arrival at upcoming stoppages”.

“Last Reported Station” signifies the station based on which the current live train running status is determined.

“Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA)” conveys the expected time at which the train is supposed to arrive at any of its upcoming stoppages.

Usefulness of Live Training Status

The status of running trains changes due to any delay or halt. Trainpnrstatus helps you to easily avail train enquiry at your fingertips instead of running back and forth to the helpdesk of the crowded railway stations. With the help of Live Training Status, you can easily spot your train and thus know the exact time of arrival and departure of your train. You must frequently check the updates before boarding the train and as the arrival time comes nearer, you will be able to locate your train more accurately. You can use your PNR status to keep track of any delays.

Indian Railways in order to empower passengers who do not have access to the internet has launched this service for Live Trainign Status enquiry.

Step 2: Enter your train name/ number in the search box and press enter.
Step 3: Enter the name of the Boarding / Arrival station and press enter
Step 4: mention your date
Step 5: You can track the live train running status

Cancellation of a confirmed ticket when the train is running very late.

You can cancel your confirmed ticket if the train is running late by more than 3 hours. In this case, the entire amount will be refunded including the clerkage charges. Also applicable for confirmed tatkal tickets.

About Clerkage charges

Clerkage is a charge levied for the clerical work rendered in the refund of fares on cancellation of unreserved, waitlisted &RAC tickets. The amount of clerkage charge is rs. 30 per passenger, except for second class unreserved tickets where it is rs. 15.

Ordering food at IRCTC

Indian railways has started the e-catering services for food delivery in train. E catering app can be downloaded from both iOS or play store. E-catering services are also available from their website https://www.ecatering.irctc.co.in, all you need is your PNR number to book.

Where to find PNR number on ticket?

PNR number is generally printed at the top left corner of the printed tickets (tickets that are taken from railway station booking window). In case of the E – Ticket (tickets that are booked online or through IRCTC website), it is mentioned at top in separate cell.
